After testing positive for COVID-19 last week, Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar told his fans on Friday (April 2) that he is being hospitalized on ‘medical advice’ to get treated properly. The tragic news comes on the tenth anniversary of India’s iconic 2011 World Cup victory, which is being commemorated by millions of cricket fans.
“Thank you for your prayers and well-wishes. I’ve been admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure based on medical recommendations. hope to get back as soon as possible. All of you, take care and stay safe. On the 10th anniversary of our World Cup victory, I’d like to give my best wishes to all Indians and my teammates “Tendulkar sent out a tweet on Friday.
Tendulkar recently led India Legends to their first Road Safety World Series title by beating Sri Lanka Legends in the tournament’s final. Sachin was part of India’s World Cup-winning squad in 2011. When he scored an unbeaten 200 against South Africa in February 2010, he became the first man to score a double century in ODI cricket.
He topped the ODI cricket rankings for a total of 112 matches, or 354 days. He is also the youngest player to top the ODI batting rankings, having done so in February 1996 at the age of 8346 days.
In one-day international cricket, he reached an all-time high of 887 points in November 1998. In March 1996, he was ranked second in the ODI all-rounders table.
Irfan Pathan, a former India all-rounder, became the fourth Indian cricketer to test positive for COVID-19 on Monday, after playing in the veteran’s Road Safety World Series tournament in Raipur, which is rapidly becoming a mega spreader. Before Irfan, his older brother Yusuf, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, and S Badrinath all declared that they had tested positive for COVID-19 on Twitter.
