Gwalior Police in Madhya Pradesh arrested a 57-year-old man who owns a bakery on Monday for allegedly raping two ladies on different occasions, according to an official.

After assisting her in renting an apartment in Gwalior, the accused reportedly assaulted a 22-year-old lady who claimed to be studying for UPSC exams and was from Uttar Pradesh, he added.

Another victim, an 18-year-old, alleged in her FIR that the accused raped her while she was a juvenile.

“Police arrested the 57-year-old accused on the charge of raping two women who lodged FIRs at two different police stations last week,” Superintendent of Police Amit Sanghi said.

The accused, who was remanded in judicial custody, was additionally charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

The accused reportedly raped the 22-year-old lady in her flat after spiking her drink with sedatives and filming the incident, which he then used to blackmail her, according to police.

He used a similar modus operandi against another victim.
