The Ministry of Defense has given a contract of approximately Rs 18,000 crore to the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) to make the missile ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s Make in India campaign.
According to official sources, Defense Minister Arun Jaitley, in a meeting of the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC), chose the ground-to-air missile, not giving preference to the foreign missile system.
According to army sources, these missiles will be deployed on the border of Pakistan and China. In the event of war, these missiles will be used against enemy fighters and drones.
For the missile contracts, Israel, Sweden and Russia were striving since 2011, but the government chose DRDO for this. It is worth noting that the sky missile is capable of throwing the enemy aircraft, helicopters and drones from 25 kilometers away.
