Today, Maharashtra recorded 895 Covid deaths in just 24 hours, the highest single-day increase in fatalities in the state’s history. The state, which has been struck hard by the coronavirus pandemic, has seen 66,358 new infections in the last 24 hours, up from 48,700 the day before.
With 162 deaths in 24 hours, the state’s Aurangabad district had the largest number of fatalities.
According to official reports, Maharashtra currently has 6,72,434 active cases of the deadly coronavirus, with 2,45,466 active cases in Mumbai, Thane, and Pune.
So far, the state has screened 2,62,54,737 samples, 44,10,085 of which have been found to be positive, bringing the positivity rate to 16.80 percent.
Today, 67,752 patients were discharged after recovering from the outbreak, bringing the total number of recoveries in the state to 36,69,548. According to official reports, the state’s recovery rate is 83.21 percent.
According to official data from the civic body, 4,014 new cases of coronavirus were registered today, slightly more than on Monday, with 59 deaths. Just 30,428 samples were checked in the last 24 hours, but the positivity levels in the metropolis is still above 13%. On Monday, Mumbai screened just over 28,000 samples and found 3,876 cases of Covid19.
