Maharashtra recorded 6,843 new coronavirus positive cases and 123 fatalities on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases to 62,64,922 and the death toll to 1,31,552, according to the state health department.

With 5,212 patients released during the day, Maharashtra’s total number of recoveries has risen to 60,35,029, leaving the state with 94,985 active cases, according to the report. The case recovery rate in Maharashtra is presently 96.33 percent, with a mortality rate of 2.09 percent.

364 new cases and 10 deaths were recorded in Mumbai, bringing the total number of infections to 7,34,118 and the number of COVID-19 fatalities to 15,837. According to the government, the Mumbai division, which includes the metropolis and its satellite cities, recorded 1,184 new illnesses and 38 fatalities, bringing the total to 16,34,633 infections and 34,089 deaths.

There were 1,100 new cases in the Nashik division, including 943 in the Ahmednagar district. There were 2,168 illnesses recorded in the Pune division, including 665 in Satara and 657 in the Pune district. There were 267 new cases in Pune, and 161 in Pimpri Chinchwad, according to the report.

During the day, the Kolhapur division saw 1,963 cases, including 691 in the Sangli district. Kolhapur district, which has seen an increase in cases in recent months, now has 582 illnesses. According to the department, Aurangabad division reported 56 instances, Latur division 314, Akola division 40, and Nagpur division 18 new cases.

In Nagpur, just two new cases were recorded during the day. In the city, no COVID-19 fatalities were reported. During the day, no deaths were reported in the Nagpur and Akola divisions of the Vidarbha area. With the addition of 2,02,536 additional tests, the total number of samples examined in Maharashtra now stands at 4,68,46,984, according to the department.
