A fisherman from Palghar, Maharashtra, near Mumbai, had no idea that his catch would make him a fortune and earn him crores overnight.
After the monsoon restriction on fishing was removed on August 28, Chandrakant Tare, a fisherman from Murbe village in Palghar district, took his boat to the sea for the first time.
He realised the net had gotten heavy while fishing and promptly took it out. The crew members on board were taken aback when they saw that he had captured about 150 ghol fish all at once in the net.
Ghol fish is not only a delicacy, but it also has a number of therapeutic benefits and is prized in many nations. Its components are utilised in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and other high-priced goods.
The fish is also known as “the fish with the heart of gold.”
People on the boat couldn’t contain their delight when they saw such a large number of gigantic ghol fish and began photographing the scene on their phones.
The catch was auctioned when the fishermen returned from the sea, and it received an offer of about Rs. 1.33 crore.
Somnath Tare, Chandrakant Tare’s son, acknowledged the agreement, but claimed it had not yet been completed. According to Mr. Somnath, the ghol fish has a pouch in its stomach that is in high demand internationally.
The ghol fish, scientific name Protonibea diacanthus, is a blackspotted croaker fish found in the Indo-Pacific area. It is one of the most costly marine species.
