August 19, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will inaugurate a new administrative complex in Palghar. The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) built the structure, which is said to be the largest administrative complex not only in the state but also in the country. CIDCO was tasked by the Maharashtra government with speeding up the Palghar district, which was formed in 2014 after the Thane district was split in two.
“CIDCO has developed the new district headquarters of Palghar over 103 hectares of land,” wrote Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, the vice-chairman and managing director of the city-planning agency from his official Twitter handle on Wednesday. “This is being inaugurated tomorrow by Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, along with a galaxy of luminaries…”
Because only invited guests and registered media persons are allowed to physically attend the inaugural ceremony, where the chief minister will be present for the opening of the new administrative complex, the CIDCO vice-chairman also provided a link for everyone to watch the inaugural ceremony live from their mobile devices.
According to reports, construction on Palghar’s new administrative complex began in 2017 and was scheduled to be completed by 2019, but the project was repeatedly delayed until it was finally completed in April of this year. CIDCO was given a 103-hectare plot for the new administrative complex in Kolgaon, Palghar, according to reports. The complex is being constructed to streamline the district’s administration; the new building will house most government offices, including those of the Zilla Parishad, the district collector, and the superintendent of police (SP), which previously operated out of rented space.
The new administrative complex in Palghar, which will be followed by two more within the next month, is said to be part of Maharashtra’s efforts to turn Palghar into a commercial hub with proper industrial growth and all-round development of the district’s tribal areas.
