The vaccination of pregnant women with Covid is slated to begin on July 23, according to health minister Dr. Prabhuram Choudhary, who made the announcement here on Wednesday. The state government has devised a strategy to protect pregnant moms from infection.
The vaccination will protect the pregnant lady and her unborn child from the deadly illness, according to the ministry. The vaccination will be given out at all medical colleges, district hospitals, civil hospitals, and community health centres starting on Friday. Every day, the immunisation begins at 9 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m.
Medical officers will supervise and observe pre- and post-vaccination activities at each vaccination centre. On-site registration will be available every weekday. Vaccines will be provided at ANC clinics on vaccination days such as Tuesday and Friday.
The minister went on to say that a pre-vaccination and post-vaccination standard operating procedure (SOP) has been established, and health workers must adhere to it rigorously.
According to the minister, Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) can occur even after 20 days, and to monitor for AEFI among the beneficiaries, a telecaller will contact all women getting the vaccination at least once a day.
If AEFI reported, the issue will be forwarded to the district health officer and also to the district immunisation officer. The names and the details of beneficiary will be collected and sent to the state officials.
