Madhya Pradesh’s Energy department principal secretary Sanjay Dubey on Thursday reviewed the electricity demand and supply of the state in the coming month of April-May at the Shakti Bhavan, the headquarters of power companies in Jabalpur.
It is noteworthy that there is a possibility of expected increase in demand of electricity in the summer months of April and May in the entire country including Madhya Pradesh.
In today’s review meeting, a detailed discussion was held on the demand and availability of electricity in Madhya Pradesh during these months.
At the start of meeting, a two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to former state chief Secretary, former chairman of Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board and former chairman of Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission Rakesh Sahni.
There should be proper use of conventional and non-conventional sources of energy, said Energy department principal secretary Sanjay Dubey in the meeting.
The demand for electricity in Madhya Pradesh is likely to touch 13800 MW in the months of April and May, he said.
He said that as per the plan of state government, the power companies are fully prepared to supply 24 hours electricity to domestic consumers and 10 hours to agricultural consumers in the months of April and May.
Dubey reviewed the status of thermal, hydro power generation as well as non-conventional power generation.
He said the hydel and non-conventional power generation should be used properly along with the thermal power in months of April and May.
He gave instructions to the officials concerned to thermal power units of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company to produce sufficient electricity during this period.
Along with this, it was asked to ensure the availability of coal in thermal power units, he further said.
Consumer satisfaction is paramount – In the review meeting, instructions were also given to keep the transmission and distribution system technically sound in the state.
It was instructed that the power companies were told that there must be no voltage problem in any part of the state and quality power supply should be ensured to all categories of consumers.
In addition instructions were given in the meeting to give top priority to grid discipline.
The distribution companies were directed to replace faulty transformers immediately and for this additional transformers must be arranged in the plains.
Principal Secretary Dubey said the satisfaction of the consumers is paramount for the power sector and any kind of their problems must be solved quickly with sensitivity.
In today’s meeting, state owned companies managing directors including MP Power Management Company managing director Raghuraj Rajendran, MP East Zone Power Distribution Company managing director Anay Dwivedi, Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company managing director Manjit Singh, Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company managing director Sunil Tiwari, senior engineers of power companies including Neeraj Agarwal, Officer on Special Duty of Energy Department of the government were present. Senior Engineers of NHDC were also present in the meeting.
