A night curfew will be enforced in Bhopal and Indore from Wednesday (March 17, 2021) before further orders, due to a huge increase in COVID-19 cases across Madhya Pradesh.
In eight other towns, the state government forced shops to close at 10 p.m. The restrictions will take effect on Wednesday, according to the government. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made the decision after discussing the COVID-19 situation with senior officials in a meeting.
“From March 17 until further notice, night curfews will be enforced in Bhopal and Indore. From March 17 before further orders, markets in eight towns, namely Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Ratlam, Burhanpur, Chhindwara, Betul, and Khargone, will close at 10 p.m. In these towns, there will be no curfew “, according to a statement released by the Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday night.
The curfew would not apply to essential facilities such as medical stores, ration shops, or eateries. Passengers arriving by aeroplane, train, or bus from outside the airport will be able to continue to their destination before 10 p.m.

From 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., shops in Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Ratlam, Chhindwara, Burhanpur, Betul, and Khargone (all district headquarters) will be closed.
On the day of Holi, no public activities will be permitted, but private Holi ceremonies will be permitted. If more than 100 citizens are scheduled to participate in any social, educational, political, religious, athletic, entertainment, or cultural activity in these ten districts, permission from the district administration is required.
Thermal scanning and one-week isolation will begin for those coming from Maharashtra. On Monday, the state of Madhya Pradesh announced 797 new coronavirus cases. The estimated number of infections currently stands at 2,69,391. Three more victims died, raising the number to 3,890.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met with Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Sunday and requested more COVID-19 vaccines as well as assistance with other health-related issues in the state.
