Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Madhya Pradesh is the leading state in the country in distribution of relief amount for crop damage.
Farmers are not provided with such a huge amount in other states of India.
In the state, considering 100 per cent loss of more than 50 per cent crops, the relief amount is provided, he said.
Chouhan was addressing the ministers before the cabinet meeting. Senior officers including Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains were present.
Chouhan said that today he visited rain and hail affected areas. Relief amount will be provided after surveying the crops of all the affected farmers.
The state government is with the farmers in the hour of crisis. All possible help will be provided to them.
Apart from the relief amount, farmers will also be given the benefit of crop insurance scheme.
Chouhan said that crop damage will be assessed scientifically using technology.
He said that about 33 thousand hectares of damage has been reported in 20 districts of the state.
He said that there will be no recovery of loan from the affected farmers.
Help will also be given in the marriage of daughters. National anthem Vande Mataram was sung before the meeting.
