The Madhya Pradesh government has released new guidelines in response to a surge in coronavirus cases, stating that people entering districts that share a border with Maharashtra should be detected and subjected to a week-long quarantine. Chhindwara, Balaghat, Betul, Seoni, Khandwa, Barwani, Khargone, and Burhanpur are the eight districts of Madhya Pradesh that share a border with Maharashtra.
1) Passengers arriving from Maharashtra in the border districts should be marked and informed of a mandatory quarantine of one week.
2) In the districts bordering Maharashtra, as well as the MP capital Bhopal and industrial hub Indore, the state government-mandated 50% attendance (maximum 200 people) in closed halls during any program by following protocols.
3) People visiting Madhya Pradesh should be subjected to mandatory thermal scanning.
Meanwhile, the state of Madhya Pradesh announced 743 new cases and two deaths in the last 24 hours of Sunday. Indore continued to have the largest number of cases in the state, with 263 new cases and one death, followed by Bhopal with 139 new cases and one death.
Jabalpur (45 cases), Gwalior (30 cases), Ratlam and Ujjain (24 cases each), Burhanpur (23 cases), Chhindwara (22 cases), Khargone (18 cases), and Betul (16 cases) were among the other districts that recorded significant numbers of cases.
The state’s average positivity rate for new cases was 4.5 percent, but Indore’s frequent positivity rate stood between 8 and 9 percent.
It also ordered the District Crisis Management Committees to hold meetings and to review the situation in the Covid-19 situations.
Covid preventive protocols should be widely publicized in districts such as Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ratlam, Gwalior, Balaghat, Seoni, Betul, Chhindwara, Khandwa, Khargon, Barwani, Burhanpur, and Ujjain, where new cases have been registered.
Meanwhile, according to the Hindustan Times, India’s coronavirus vaccination campaign has surpassed that of the United States to become the world’s second-largest. India has distributed an average of 12.6 lakh doses of vaccines every day of last week, while the US has 25 lakh doses. As many as 1,40,880 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday, taking the tally to 2,99,08,038, government data showed.
