Manak Agarwal, an AICC member, and a senior Congress leader faced severe repercussions after the MPCC’s Discipline Committee suspended him for six years over his remarks against former Hindu Mahasabha leader Babulal Chaurasia. Manak Agarwal accused Kamal Nath, a senior leader and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, of ‘destroying Congress’ by suspending him. He also stated that the MPCC disciplinary committee could not dismiss an AICC member.
This conspiracy being unleashed by Kamal Nath will end the Congress party. I just reminded Kamal Nath Ji of his traditions. Kamal Nath should have thought, that he has no authority to do this, it is the AICC’s right. No one has the courage to act against an AICC member,” said the Congress leader.
“I am an AICC member, how can you just suspend me? I stand by my statement. Rahul Ji himself said in Kerala when Kamal Nath Ji had passed a statement against a minister, that he should withdraw it. As I previously said, he should apologize “Manak Agarwal explained the situation. “Babulal Chaurasia is a Godse follower who should be removed from Congress. Second, what he said about Godse is incorrect; he is a Godse supporter; the State Congress Committee has no authority to expel me; I have made no such statements; ” he Added.
Babulal Chaurasiya, a Hindu Mahasabha member who joined the Congress, was involved in the construction of a temple within the Hindu Mahasabha’s office in Gwalior in 2017. The Madhya Pradesh Congress released a photo of Chaurasiya being formally welcomed into the party by State Congress President Kamal Nath.
Kamal Nath’s decision to recruit Chaurasia attracted backlash from within his own party, with the BJP calling the Congress a “Godsewadi party” and accusing him of going against “Congress’ orthodoxy.”
This decision has split the Madhya Pradesh Congress, with former state president Arun Yadav and former MP Meenakshi Natrajan taking to social media to express their displeasure with the decision. Nath defended his decision, adding, “If anyone tries to change and knows they were on the wrong side and now want to reach Congress, they should.”
