According to a senior source, authorities in Madhya Pradesh today dismissed 14 police officers from two districts for failing to ensure the safety of BJP Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia during his visit to the state.
Mr Scindia’s security was breached on his route to Gwalior after landing from Delhi late on Sunday night.
Gwalior Superintendent of Police Amit Sanghi told PTI that 14 police officers had been suspended, nine from Morena and five from Gwalior, for failing to handle Mr Scindia’s protection.
Mr Sanghi stated that the former Union minister will be accompanied by Morena Police on the Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan border, with their Gwalior counterparts taking over afterwards.
According to the SP, Morena police escorted another car that looked identical to the one in which Mr Scindia was travelling.
According to him, the Rajya Sabha MP visited Gwalior without being accompanied since Morena police did not exchange information about his movements with their Gwalior counterparts.
Mr Sanghi stated that as a result of the lapse, action has been taken against police officers from two districts.
