A clash at a BJP MLA’s birthday bash in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district resulted in the deaths of two people, according to police.
According to Damoh Superintendent of Police Hemant Chouhan, the incident occurred about 10 p.m. on Friday in Banwar village, Nohata police station district, following a disagreement among the event attendees.
As per to the preliminary inquiry, one of the dead, Jogendra Singh (30), died of a gunshot wound, while another, Arvind Jain, was battered to death with stones and sticks, the SP said
So far, no perpetrators have been confirmed, and further inquiry is currently underway Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, a Jabera MLA, was not present at the bash when the incident happened, according to police reports.
Ajay Tandon, the president of the Damoh district Congress, on the other hand, accused the police of failing to uphold law and order.
“The occurrence happened at BJP MLA Dharmendra Singh Lodhi’s birthday party at a time when the district is under high security due to President Ram Nath Kovind’s arrival,” Tandon said.
While the BJP MLA could not be approached for response, Rajneesh Agrawal, the state BJP secretary, said he was uncertain of the accident. “The BJP has little to do with the incident. The law will follow its own path “he said
Starting Saturday, President Ram Nath Kovind will travel to Madhya Pradesh for a two-day tour. On Sunday, he is expected to arrive in Jalhari village in Damoh district at 9.30 a.m., from where he will travel to Sangrampur village to attend the MP Tribal Welfare Department’sJanjatiya Sammelan.’
