The Supreme Court heard the case of Kerala’s famous love jihad case on Thursday. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court had refused to postpone the hearing on Thursday. Hadia’s father had urged Chief Justice Deepak Mishra to postpone the hearing on Thursday but the court did not accept it. If the hearing began on February 22, the Supreme Court postponed the hearing and announced the next hearing on March 8.
Let us tell you that before this, Akhila Ashokan alias Hadiya presented affidavit in the Sovereign Court. In which she said that she is a Muslim and she wants to remain a Muslim only. Hadia married a Muslim boy named Shafin in December 2016. The girl’s father M Ashokan had alleged that this is a matter of love jihad. His daughter was forced to change the religion and marry him. But Hadia has said in the affidavit , that she is Shaphin’s wife and wants to stay with him.

Hadiya has said in the affidavit that she has accepted Islam with her consciousness and will. No one forced her to accept Islam by any pressure. Hadia said in her 25-page affidavit, that she wants to be with her husband, because she has accepted Islam religion with her own will. Right now she does not have freedom, while she is entitled to freedom. She is still under the supervision of the police. Hadia has urged the court to give her independency and freedom again.
What did the Supreme Court say in the previous hearing?
In The Supreme Court, this case is being heard by Chief Justice Deepak Mishra, Justice AM Khanvilkar and Justice DV Chandrachud. In the previous hearing on January 23, the Bench had said that the NIA will not have the right to investigate the legality of marriage of Hadia and Shafin. In the case Kapil Sibbal had jumped in between the case defending Shafin. They demanded the investigation of the case with a retired judge. The former bench, hearing the case, gave the same order.
