Congress-DMK alliance happened on Wednesday at DMK Headquaters in Chennai wherein the Congress will contest nine seats in Tamil Nadu and one seat in the Union territory of Puducherry.
The DMK and the Congress on Wednesday signed the seat-sharing agreement for the coming Lok Sabha elections.
The Congress will contest nine seats in Tamil Nadu and one seat in the Union territory of Puducherry.
The seat-sharing agreement was signed at the DMK headquarters — Anna Arivalayam — in Chennai by party president M K Stalin and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K S Alagiri. Congress general secretary K C Venugopal, All India Congress Committee general secretary in charge of Tamil Nadu Mukul Wasnik, DMK leaders like S Duraimurugan and T R Baalu were also present.
Addressing reporters, Stalin said names of the constituencies in Tamil Nadu that would be allotted to the Congress would be decided after “we sign agreements with other parties.” A committee would be set up to decide on the names of constituencies, he added.
There are 39 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu and one in Puducherry, which is ruled by the Congress.
The agreement comes a day after the ruling AIADMK cobbled alliances with BJP and PMK allotting them five and seven Lok Sabha seats respectively.
