The Maharashtra government declared a lockdown in the Beed district from March 26 to April 4 in response to a massive increase in COVID-19 cases across the state and region.
According to sources, the Beed District Collector released the lockdown order to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus. During the lockout, all marriage halls, hotels, and restaurants in the district will be closed.
Additionally, all district schools and colleges will be suspended during this period. During this time, all private offices will be closed, and staff has been allowed to operate from home.
However, all stores offering necessities such as groceries, eggs, and drugs will be excluded from the lockout.
For the first time since December 4, the Covid-19 deaths in Maharashtra reached triple digits on Tuesday. As the state deals with the “second surge,” over 28,000 new cases were registered on Tuesday.
The state reported 132 deaths, up from 127 on December 4, bringing the total death toll to 53,589. The state’s latest infections increased from 24,645 on Monday to 28,699 a day after passing the 25-lakh cumulative tally.
For the second day in a row, Mumbai reported 3,514 new cases, bringing the total number of cases to 369,451 and 11,604 deaths.
The state recovery rate fell from 89.22% to 88.73%, while the mortality rate increased to 2.12% and the number of open cases increased to 230,641.
Pune led the way with 19 new deaths, followed by 13 each in Nashik and Nagpur, nine each in Thane and Nanded, eight in Mumbai, seven in Amravati, six in Yavatmal, five in Palghar, four each in Raigad, Nandurbar, Solapur, Beed, Wardha, and Chandrapur, three each in Ahmednagar, Sangli, Parbhani, and Akola, and one each in Dhule, Satara.
Furthermore, the number of citizens placed in home isolation rose to 11,77,265 on Tuesday, while those placed in institutional quarantine increased to 11,887.
