The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday extended the lockdown for another week, until May 24, in light of the current Covid situation in the region. The government has also announced that licenced roadside vendors would get Rs 1,000 in financial assistance.
According to official reports, Uttar Pradesh reported 281 new COVID-19 deaths on Saturday, bringing the total number of deaths to 17,283, while the infection count increased to 16,09,140 with 12,547 new cases.
Meerut had 19 COVID-19 deaths, Chandauli had 15, Kanpur had 14, Lucknow had 14, and Auriaya had 12. Jhansi and Gautam Buddh Nagar each confirmed ten deaths, according to a statement released by the state government.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 28,404 COVID-19 patients have recovered in the province, bringing the total number of COVID-19 patients recovered to 14,14,259.
According to the statement, there are 1,77,643 active COVID-19 cases in the province.
In the last 24 hours, over 2.56 lakh samples have been analyzed. According to the study, over 4.44 crore samples have been screened in the state so far.
