Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Ladli Bahna Yojana is a social revolution in Indian politics, which along with changing the lives of sisters will take Madhya Pradesh forward in every field of development. The Chief Minister was addressing the villagers in a huge public meeting at Gopalpur in Bherunda tehsil of Sehore district on Sunday during Vikas Parv.
Chief Minister Chouhan announced the formation of Gopalpur tehsil by including Patwari Halke and village attached to Gopalpur Tappa, increasing the length of about two dozen rural roads, expansion of electricity capacity in Majre tolas of Gopalpur and construction of new cow-sheds. He performed bhoomi-pujan of several construction and development works worth Rs 50 crore 36 lakh in Gopalpur and inaugurated new power sub-station Gopalpur built at a cost of Rs one crore 69 lakh.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that he has not run the government as a Chief Minister but as a member of the family. He said that, ‘Being the Mama of nephews and nieces, I am naturally the brother of the sisters and always work to empower them. Close relatives also make excuses to part with a hundred or two hundred rupees to the sisters in need. I have seen the sisters being helpless in front of the children. My aim behind making Ladli Bahna Yojana is to empower the sisters in the home, family and society.’
Chief Minister Chouhan said that it is not Rs 1000 but a symbol of the self-respect and dignity of the sisters. The portal has been opened again, so that women of 21 years of age and hailing from families with tractors can also join the scheme.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that today he has 1.25 crore sisters, there can be no greater satisfaction in his life than this. Now, in giving Rs 1000 per month to the sisters, Rs 15 thousand crore will be spent in a year. But his sisters need not worry, as soon as the money comes into the coffers, their brother will be able to gradually increase the amount of the sisters to Rs 3000 rupees.
His Bahnas will not be allowed to remain poor. By connecting them with self-help groups and engaging them in various activities, their monthly income will be increased to at least Rs 10,000 per month.
The Chief Minister said that all his schemes are to wipe the tears of the poor, women, the deprived and farmers and to make them happy. Only if he can bring happiness in the lives of people will he consider his life meaningful.
The Chief Minister said that the development which is apparent today did not happen even in the 50 years of the previous governments. Be it roads, health, water for farms and homes, education, the government has made achievements in every field. Today the farmer has become more empowered than before. We have given loans to the farmers at zero percent interest, so our government has also paid the interest of Rs 2200 crores to the farmers who became defaulters due to the wrong policies of the previous government. The Prime Minister gives Rs 6 thousand to the farmers every year and now his government will also give Rs 6 thousand, due to which now Rs 12 thousand rupees will come in the farmer’s account every year.
