According to the announcement of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Ladli Bahna Sena is to be formed for better implementation of the schemes run for the welfare of women. Commissioner, Women and Child Development, Dr. Ram Rao Bhonsle has instructed all district programme officers and project officers to compulsorily constitute Ladli Bahna Sena in every village by June 21. All the district programme officers and project officers were informed about the objectives, nature, operations and responsibilities and duties of Ladli Bahna Sena in the online state level training programme in this connection on Wednesday.

Chouhan has transferred Rs 1209 crore 64 lakh to the accounts of sisters on June 10 by starting Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Yojana to strengthen the economic independence of women and their role in family decisions. In this series, he had also announced the formation of Ladli Bahna Sena by including the women beneficiaries of Ladli Bahna Yojana for better implementation and monitoring of the work of the schemes run by the government for the welfare of women.

Nature and formation of Ladli Bahna Sena

In every village of the state, with population less than 1500, Ladli Bahna Sena will be formed with 11 members and in villages with a population over 1500, with 21 members. There will be a Ladli Bahana Sena at the village/ward level, in which women in the age group of 23 to 60 can be members. In this, at least 50 percent of the total number of members will be benefited from the Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Yojana. Women from self-help groups of the State Rural Livelihood Mission will be compulsorily included in the Ladli Bahna Sena.

Ladli Bahna Sena in-charge and Ladli Bahna Sena co-in-charge will be unanimously nominated in each Ladli Bahna Sena, who will discharge their duties for one year. An active Anganwadi worker of that village will be nominated as the coordinator of Ladli Bahna Sena by the Sector Supervisor of Women and Child Development Department.

Formation process

For membership of Ladli Bahna Sena, women in the age group of 23 to 60 years can go to the Anganwadi center and register their names. Anganwadi workers will provide the list of registered women to the sector supervisor. The sector supervisor will provide the list of Ladli Bahna Sena formed at all the centers under the sector and the name of the Anganwadi worker of the concerned village as coordinator to the project officer. Members of Ladli Bahna Sena can terminate their membership by giving written information along with reasons to the Anganwadi worker. Any such vacant position will be filled unanimously by Ladli Bahna Sena in-charge and other members.

Operation of Ladli Bahna Sena

Meetings will be held by Ladli Bahna Sena at least once in the second week of the month and as per requirement. The meeting will be conducted by Ladli Bahna Sena in-charge. Project Officer, Sector Supervisor, ANM will give guidance from time to time in the meetings.
