Kerala registered 18,531 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the total number of cases to 32,54,064, with the test positive rate (TPR) falling below 12%.
After staying below 1% for several weeks, the TPR breached 11 percent on July 19 and continued to increase until it reached 13.63 percent on July 23.
With 98 additional fatalities, the total number of individuals who died as a result of the virus has risen to 15,969 people.
According to a state government announcement, 15,507 individuals have been cured of the virus, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 30,99,469 and the number of ongoing cases in the state to 1,38,124.
1,55,568 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, with a Test Positivity Rate (TPR) of 11.91 percent.
According to the report, 2,61,06,272 samples have been tested so far.
Malappuram (2,816), Thrissur (2,498), Kozhikode (2,252), Ernakulam (2,009), Palakkad (1,624), Kollam (1,458), Thiruvananthapuram (1,107), Kannur (990), and Alappuzha (990) are among the worst-affected districts in the state (986).
According to the statement, 74 of the new cases are health workers, 113 are from outside the state, and 17,538 were infected through contact, with the source of contact unknown in 806 instances.
There are currently 4,24,351 people under surveillance in various districts of the state.
Of these, 3,98,407 are in-home or institutional quarantine and 25,944 in hospitals.
There are 626 areas in the state with a TPR of more than 10 percent, the release said.
