Dostana 2 by Dharma Productions has been making headlines since its release. Collin D’Cunha is in charge of the film’s direction. Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Lakshya will star in this film, which Karan Johar announced in 2019. According to sources, the film’s lead actor, Kartik Aaryan, has been dropped from the project and will no longer appear in it. According to sources, the producers were forced to make this decision because Kartik Aaryan has been difficult to work with.
The film is already half-shot and finding a new actor that suits the role would be a struggle for the filmmakers. “Yes, Kartik Aaryan will no longer be a part of this project. I couldn’t give you all the reasons, but I can tell you that it hasn’t been a good experience so far. An actor who has shot a film has never been dropped by Dharma Productions in the company’s history ” told a source at the production house.
Dharma Productions will suffer a significant financial loss as a result of having to reshoot half of the film to compensate for the wasted time. There were also rumors of Kartik and Janhvi Kapoor’s breakup a while ago, which may have played a part in this massive professional disaster.
Kartik, who was excited to be a part of the project, had earlier told news agency PTI: “The evolution is from one Dostana to the other. Dostana one that released in 2008 and the Dostana 2 that’s releasing in 2020, you will see that the representation is accurate, non-caricaturish, and on point, talking about sexuality in a way that will not make you cringe while watching it. So therein lies the fact that in the last 12 years, there has been a solid change in the way we depict gay characters. Even in Kapoor & Sons and the way it was depicted.”
The original film, Dostana, starring Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham, and Abhishek Bachchan, was released in 2008.
