Water resources minister from Karnataka Ramesh Jarkiholi who left congress in 2019 to join BJP, found himself in trouble when an alleged sex-tape of him surfaced, featuring him with a young unidentified woman. He is accused to abuse his position and ask for sexual favor from a woman in exchange for the promise of a job.
On Tuesday, the ruling BJP in Karnataka was entangled in a controversy over a video CD that allegedly included Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi and a young woman.
Karnataka Chairman B S Yediyurappa spoke with fellow party members, while government sources said they would vote on Jarkiholi to resign after hearing him. Suresh Kumar, the Minister of Primary Education, said, “Party leaders will decide on the issue.”
A social activist, Dinesh Kalahalli, who asserted that he was approved by a women’s family to file a complaint later took a report to Cubbon Park police claiming that the Minister had promised a government job to the woman in the video clips.
However, the accused minister while talking to media claimed that he is innocent he said, “I do not even know the woman and the complainant. I am going to meet my high command to convey a clarification about the alleged video. I was in Mysuru and I went to Chamundeshwari Temple. I do not even know what that video is about because I never spoke to that woman. I will resign from my MLA post and politics if these allegations are proven against me.”
Police sources said that they investigated the CD’s reality and that when it was fired it is not yet understood. However, since the woman has not come forward to register a complaint, efforts are being made to get an official statement from her, they said.
