The Karnataka government declared a 14-day curfew beginning Tuesday (April 27) night at 9 p.m. on Monday (April 26).
During the lockdown-like limits, critical services were only available from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. The state government has also declared that all adults will get free COVID-19 vaccinations.
During a press conference, CM BS Yediyurappa announced the implementation of a curfew and stringent steps throughout the province. The CM has stated that citizens above the age of 18 would be given free COVID-19 vaccinations at government hospitals. “For the past 45 years, the central government has provided free vaccines,” the CM said.
Ration and grocery purchases will be permitted between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Inter-state and intra-state traffic will be prohibited during the curfew era. People will only be permitted to fly in an emergency.
Meanwhile, weekend curfews will remain in effect, as will public services.
District Collectors (DCs) would have to take stringent precautions to prevent the dissemination of COVID-19. “People would have to work together. If they do, we will be able to meet our goal,” the CM said.
