Jyotish & Dwarka–Sharda Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati passed away at Paramhansi Ganga Ashram, Jhoteshwar in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday.
The 99-year-old seer was undergoing treatment for last three months for an ailment at the Ashram.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has condoled the death of the seer.
Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh said it is a personal loss for me.
The seer participated in the freedom struggle and stayed in the jail.
The seer actively participated in a movement for construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
Recently he celebrated 99th birthday on Teej festival, an official of Ashram said.
