Jyotiraditya Scindia, a BJP leader, downplayed suggestions of a change of leadership in Madhya Pradesh today, stating that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is doing an excellent job.
“I’m not sure where the rumour of a shift in Madhya Pradesh’s administration originated. For the past 16 months, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has done an excellent job in the face of the coronavirus epidemic “Here’s what a Rajya Sabha member remarked.
Mr Scindia, who left the Congress last year and joined the BJP, began a three-day visit of the Gwalior and Chambal regions today. He had seen Mr Chouhan and other party officials in Bhopal the day before to discuss the Covid problem, he added.
“Be it the chief minister, Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar or me, we are working together,” Mr Scindia said.
In response to a query regarding illicit sand mining in the Chambal River, he stated that he has always opposed unlawful mining and that he will push the government to prosecute the perpetrators.
“But those who are paying mining royalty should get protection. If the miners paying royalty carry out illegal mining, they should also face action,” he added.
Mr. Scindia said the state’s BJP administration managed the second wave of the pandemic efficiently, and preparations are on to tackle a possible third wave, adding that vaccination should be done concurrently since “it is the most potent weapon against the pandemic.”
