on Wednesday the Madhya Pradesh Police have declared a reward of 30,000 for details leading to the arrest of the husband of a state BSP MLA in connection with a murder case in 2019.
Govind Singh, the husband of BSP MLA Ram Bai Singh, is charged with the assassination of Congress leader Devendra Chaurasia.
According to the facts of the case, despite the filing of an FIR on March 15, 2019, in which Chaurasia’s son Somesh reported that Govind Singh was involved in his father’s murder, no action has been taken by the investigating authorities to apprehend him.
The state police had increased their attempts to apprehend Govind Singh after the Supreme Court took notice of the situation.
Anil Sharma, Inspector General of Police, Sagar Range, previously declared a reward of Rs 30,000 for the arrest of Govind Singh in the murder case of the Congress chief and later he got the tip about the escape point of the accused and in next moment he sent his team for the arrest of Govind Singh
Another official also informed that Special Task Force’s (STF) Additional Director General Vipin Maheshwari has been camping in Damoh for the past two days to oversee operations to arrest Govind Singh.
As a precaution, the police had increased the protection of an Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) who is hearing the case, according to reports.
Last week, the Supreme Court took notice of the Madhya Pradesh Police Department’s inability to arrest the BSP MLA’s husband and asked the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) to do so immediately.
The top court has directed the DGP to look into the claims made by the Additional Sessions Judge, who is overseeing the prosecution of Govind Singh’s cases.
Under Section 319 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the judge has identified him as a suspect in the murder case (power to proceed against other persons appearing to be guilty of an offense).
The judge stated in his February 8 order that the Damoh SP and his subordinates are manipulating him.
Chaurasia was assassinated in Hata town in March 2019 after joining the Congress.
