Delhi CM announces weeklong lockdown on Monday

On Monday (April 19), the national capital went into a six-day lockdown due to the worsening COVID-19 situation in the region. Following the Chief Minister’s announcement, hundreds of migrant workers flocked to the Anand Vihar Bus Terminal and Sarai Kale Khan Bus Station in the evening to board buses back to their homes, flouting all COVID-19 protocols.

Allahabad High Court enforced lockdown across five cities in UP

In light of the deteriorating COVID-19 crisis, the Allahabad High Court also asked the state government to enforce lockdown across five cities in Uttar Pradesh.

Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur, and Gorakhpur are the five towns. Restrictions will be in effect until April 26.

The state government, however, said it would not enforce a full lockdown after the Allahabad High Court ordered lockdown-like curbs, adding that the administration would impose strict restrictions in the cities and will respond to the court’s observations.

Two week night curfew in Kerala

Kerala would enact a two-week night curfew due to an increase in COVID-19 cases across the district. “Non-essential movements and activity during the night between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. would be prohibited beginning at 9 p.m. on April 20. Between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., no meetings of any sort are allowed. The night ban does not apply to essential facilities (medical stores, hospitals, gasoline stations, night shift workers, milk, newspaper, newspapers, and so on), goods transportation, and public transportation “The government issued an order.

UK Added India in Travel ‘Red list’ 

In other news, Britain placed the toughest travel restrictions just hours after Prime Minister Boris Johnson canceled a trip to India. In a press conference, Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced that India will be added to Britain’s “red list” of nations, effective at 0300 GMT on Friday, barring all arrivals from India save for the UK or Irish nationals.
