After a reporter quizzed her into the questions regarding her joining in BJP, she reverted back with a headstrong impulse saying, “Joining BJP is not my proof of patriotism. I am doing my bit for the nation.”
Chatterjee contested in 2004 for Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket and lost.
The actress also received a backlash from media on her recent comments to an anchor suggesting her to not wear jeans. This is what she had to say to mediapersons on the same, “Need to tell the next generation what to wear for their own good. I gave my opinion to the girl as a mother and an Indian woman.”
She included, “You need to understand what to wear. You can’t wear jeans to the temple because it is uncomfortable. Wear salwar kameez or saree. This is our legacy.”
