Some junior doctors from a college were barred from visiting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during a review meeting in Jhansi on Sunday, according to senior officials, to ensure there was no disturbance during the meeting.
According to reports, the doctors were from Jhansi Medical College and decided to send a memorandum to the chief minister requesting that the institute’s central library be kept open 24 hours a day.
The junior doctors who wished to send the memorandum made no intention to consult with the CM beforehand. Andra Vamsi, the District Magistrate (DM) of Jhansi, said
The official went on to say that the decision was taken to ensure that the chief minister’s schedule was not disrupted.
Mr. Vamsi went on to say that neither of the junior doctors had been arrested.
According to reports, Dr. Hardeep, President of the Junior Doctors’ Association of Medical College Jhansi, was on his way to hand over a three-point memorandum to the chief minister when they were halted.
They requested in their memorandum that the college’s central library be open 24 hours a day, that proper drugs be made available, and that administrative officials treat them with dignity.
Following that, a conference was arranged between the DM and the medical college’s principal, as well as the junior doctors. The doctors were told that their issues would be settled as quickly as possible.
In a Facebook post in response to the incident in Jhansi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “The model of the UP government is to remain absent when possible and engage in false advertising, but arrest those who are in service of the public.”
“Police detained several resident doctors when they went to present their three demands to the chief minister,” she said.
“Are these demands wrong?” Priyanka Gandhi inquired.
She said that the chief minister should have heeded their demands.
