In contrast to the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the second wave has reached Indian villages.
Several villages in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and other states have recorded a significant increase in infection and mortality.
In such a case, the Parwana village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district has agreed to exclude outsiders from entering in order to discourage the virus from spreading.
Residents have erected barricades at the village’s entry points and erected a banner that reads, “Entry of outsiders in the village is forbidden – by order district administration.”
The decision was made after over two dozen people died in the previous one and a half months, ostensibly as a result of COVID-19.
“There have also been a number of deaths due to natural causes. On May 5, widespread sampling was carried out, and 41 out of 160 villagers tested positive. More samples were taken after that, and the study is still pending,” Syana sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Subhash Singh was quoted as saying by IANS.
According to the village chief, Syoraj Singh, 28 to 30 people have died in just over a month. “Among the dead are both aged and the young,” he said.
According to Syoraj Singh, people are sick in every second house. When a person’s condition worsens, we have to hurry him to a hospital in Bulandshahr, which is about 20 kilometers away.
Ravindra Kumar, the district magistrate of Bulandshahr, said that many teams have been sent to the village and that the situation will be brought under control shortly.
“This (the deaths) was brought to my attention. I quickly contacted officials from the health department. We’ve sent screening teams to the village. People who tested positive for Covid-19 have been isolated “He said.
The villagers are adhering to COVID rules such as social distancing and sanitization.
