UP. If every such awareness comes in every village, then ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ will have its feathers. On preparing toilets in Barwa Kala village of Maharajganj district, the village gives two thousand rupees to the family as ominous. Also offers kits of soap, toilet cleaners, brushes and towels. After the restoration of the toilet, the whole village is shown ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’. There is also a seminar on the importance of cleanliness. All this is done by the village panchayat and the villagers on their behalf. The help of any NGO is not included.
Population of Barva Kala village of Nautanwa block is 2216. There are 451 families. So far, there are 230 toilets in the village. 12 are under construction Proposal has been sent for the construction of 180 toilets. They will be constructed by the government budget, but Shagun and Kit Gram Panchayat give it to the villagers who take initiative.
Our village is adjacent to the forest. We were cut off from the mainstream. Some people were impressed if the people of the village were constantly told about Swachh Bharat Mission. One day ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ movie appeared to the whole village. In all the open Panchayat, open defecation in open. We started giving omen and kit People were encouraged We are moving fast towards 100 percent toilets.
Barwa kalan Village is an example. People are encouraged by giving gift and kits. If such initiatives lead all the villages, then every village will soon become an ODF. -Manoj Kumar Tyagi, DPRO
