Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav issued necessary instructions to concerned officials related to preparations for organizing Vikramotsav-2024 to be held from March 8 to April 9 in Ujjain.
Citizens of nearby districts including Ujjain will also participate in the grand Vikramotsav, which will be organized in the period from Mahashivratri to Varsha Pratipada.
Many activities will also be organized in the fair for the purpose of knowledge and entertainment in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Affairs.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the public, especially students, should be made aware of Samrat Vikramaditya’s love for justice, his charitability, bravery and knowledge of astronomy.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav issued instructions to the concerned officials in Mantralaya, in connection with organizing Vikramotsav in a grand and systematic manner.
In the coming months, a trade fair will also be organized in Ujjain, for sale of products in various sectors. Various cultural events will be held in the trade fair.
School Education and Transport Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh, Chief Secretary Veera Rana and concerned senior officials were present in the meeting.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was apprised with the outline of the proposed programmes to be held during Vikramotsav. Principal Secretary Culture Sheo Shekhar Shukla and Director Maharaj Vikramaditya Research Institute Ram Tiwari gave information about the schedule of Vikramotsav.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed to organize activities on the various aspects of Samrat Vikramaditya’s life.
The contributions of Samrat Vikramaditya should be effectively highlighted through various cultural presentations, so that the people and students can become completely familiar with it.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that along with mythological films, dramas related to the brave deeds of Samrat Vikramaditya, Rani Durgavati and Rani Avantibai should also be staged. District Tourism Council should also be included in the activities.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that a tour and Samvad programme should be organized by Vedhshala students of Dongla in Ujjain district.
The students should be sent on an educational tour during June and July vacations and visit the Science city.
The subject experts should be involved in conducting academic and non-academic activities.
Programmes should also be organized on Yoga Day on 21st June. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that June 21 is also the longest day of the year when the Sun is above the Tropic of Cancer due to which sunlight remains on the earth for a longer time.
Programmes should be scheduled to inform students about the geographical significance of such dates. Commissioner Ujjain and Secretary MSME attended the meeting virtually.
Proposed activities for Vikramotsav-2024
In the meeting the programme schedule for Vikramotsav-2024 was discussed which included exhibition, Arsh Bharat, Punarnava Ujjaini, Vikram era currency and seal besides singing, Chaurasi Mahadev exhibition, Handicraft Fair, Laser show, Drone show, International Historical Conference, Shri Krishna Leelamrit, folk dances of different regions, Bansuri vadan, devotional songs, Dandiya Raas, Kathakali, Yakshagana, Prabhu Shringar competition in temples and sculpture workshop.
Apart from this, a National Science Conference will also be held at Kalidas Academy Ujjain in collaboration with Madhya Pradesh Department of Science and Technology and Higher Education Department.
The representatives from major government and private universities of the country will participate in the conference.
Under the Vikram Natya Samaroh, plays focusing on the lives of Karna, Andhayug, Avanti Shaurya, Shri Krishna and Lord Shri Ram will be staged.
Along with India, artist troupes from Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand will give presentations from Ramayana and Mahabharata.
Along with this, All India Veda Conference, Veda Antakshari, Kavi Sammelan and Suryopasana programme will be organized through Maharaja Vikramaditya Shodhpeeth.
This year Vikram Vedic clock will be launched in Vikramotsav. A programme has been planned at Ramghat for the release of various publications and the launch of Vikram Panchang.
Vikram convocation ceremony will be held at Vikram University.
Along with various departments of the government, Madhya Pradesh Tribal Folk Art Academy, Ashwini Research Institute, Maharishi Panini Sanskrit Vedic University, Maharishi Sandipani Ved Pratishthan, Sanskrit Board, Acharya Varahamihir Valid School will be the affiliating institutions.
