According to a map shared by the central government on Twitter, India is seeing a steady decline in the state-by-state average number of new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases per day. According to the map, which was created using Union health ministry data from Thursday, the national average growth in daily new cases is currently negative, at -5.05 percent. While a few states, particularly in the northeastern part of the country, continue to see high average growth in daily new cases, the rest of India has seen ‘negative growth’ across the same graph.
The central government shared a map on Friday through its MyGovIndia portal on Twitter, an official channel meant to update coronavirus-related stats, showing India’s state-by-state decline in average daily new Covid-19 cases. The figures were said to come from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s (MoHFW) official figures released on Thursday (June 17).
The map shows that the majority of India is now experiencing negative average growth in daily new cases, including previously hotspots like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and the national capital Delhi. However, a few isolated pockets, particularly in the country’s north and northeast, continue to see above-average daily new case growth. Over the last seven days, daily new cases in Uttarakhand in the north, Kerala in the south, and Assam and Tripura in the northeast have increased by 0-10 percent on average. Over the same time period, Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram have experienced increased average growth of 10-20 percent.
