Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian women’s T20 team, has tested positive for COVID-19 and is exhibiting moderate symptoms. After sustaining an injury in the fifth ODI on March 17, Kaur did not appear in the T20 series against South Africa which is going on in Lucknow. She was screened on Monday after contracting a moderate fever.
“She is self-isolating at home. She got tested yesterday and the report came positive today morning. She had a mild fever since four days so thought it was best to get tested. She is doing fine otherwise and should recover soon,” a source close to the player said.
“She was being screened on a daily basis during the South Africa series, so she must have come in the contact with the virus after that,” the source said.
Kaur had been in good shape in the One-Day Internationals, scoring a half-century and a 40. India lost both the ODI and T20 series after returning to international cricket after a 12-month absence.

Recently, Irfan Pathan, a retired India all-rounder, became the fourth Indian cricketer to test positive for COVID-19 on Monday (March 29), after competing in the veteran’s Road Safety World Series tournament in Raipur, which is quickly becoming a mega spreader.
Before Irfan, his older brother Yusuf, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, and S Badrinath all announced that they had tested positive for COVID-19 on Twitter.
“I tested positive for COVID-19 but had no effects, so I quarantined myself at home and isolated myself. I will ask that someone who has had contact with me in the recent past get tested,” Irfan tweeted.
“I’m urging for everyone to wear masks and keep social distance. He went on to say, “Wishing you all good luck.”
