The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has set up a Control Room in view of the onset of Monsoon.
The Control Room shall be functional round the clock throughout the Monsoon season (Tele No. 011-23718525, https://morth.nic.in).
The Control Room has been set up to monitor the problems arising from heavy rains impacting the operation of National Highways in the country, viz., disruption of traffic, accidents due to poor visibility and potholes, water logging, road obstruction and landslides etc.
Dedicated teams have been deployed for Control Room duties which will include receiving calls from public as well as government agencies and monitoring electronic media platforms for monsoon related incidents pertaining to operation of National Highways.
The teams have been mandated to coordinate with the concerned Regional Officers of MoRTH, NHAI and NHIDCL towards faster resolution of the issues pertaining to blockage or damage to National Highways.
