West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee permitted religious and cultural programs on Monday (May 10) ahead of the upcoming Eid festival.
However, a limit of 50 persons has been imposed. Due to the increase in coronavirus infections, Eid prayers and gatherings at Red Road in Kolkata will also be canceled this year.

She also mentioned that stringent steps have been implemented in the state to monitor the spread of coronavirus. “We have taken stringent steps to combat the virus,” she said at a press conference at the state secretariat after her newly elected government’s first cabinet meeting.
Today at Raj Bhavan, 43 Trinamool Congress (TMC) lawmakers were sworn in as ministers in Mamata Banerjee’s Cabinet. Mamata Banerjee took the oath of office as West Bengal’s Chief Minister for the third time on Wednesday.
In the recently concluded West Bengal Assembly elections, the Trinamool Congress secured 213 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party won 77 of the 294 seats in the state Assembly.
Recently, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee recently wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding that he raise the state’s allocation of medical oxygen.
The West Bengal Chief Minister has demanded that the Centre provide additional medical oxygen due to the unexpected increase in COVID-19 cases in the state.
In her note, CM Banerjee disclosed that the allocation for West Bengal has been set at 308 MT, considering the fact that the state now needs 550 MT of medical oxygen every day.
“Any allocation of MO less than the requested amount would not only have a negative impact on the availability of medical oxygen in the state but may also result in the death of patients in the state,” West Bengal CM said in her letter to PM Modi.
