Indian Air Force jets crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and destroyed terror camps in Pakistan, claimed reports.
Indian Air Force (IAF) jets crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and destroyed terror camps in Pakistan, claimed Pakistan army.
The air strike by Indian Air Force was carried out in Balakot sector at 3.30 am.
Sources said ten Mirage 2000 aircraft dropped 1,000 kg bombs on terrorist camps across the LoC. As per sources, three control rooms of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) were destroyed in Balakot, Chakoti and Muzzafarabad.
It is believed that IAF used laser-guided bombs in the air strike that lasted for 21 minutes. As per an initial estimate, around 300 terrorists are believed to have been killed in the airstrike, sources reported.
Sources have also reported that the Indian intelligence agencies were monitoring as many as 13 launch pads for the last few days. These caps include the one destroyed by the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Balakot.
The strike by the Indian forces comes in less than two weeks after the Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir by the Pakistan-based terror outfit JeM where 40 CRPF jawans were killed.
National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said on Twitter: “Wow, if this is true this was not a small strike by any stretch of imagination but will wait for official word, should any be forthcoming.”
On Tuesday, Pakistan Major General Asif Ghafoor alleged that the Indian Air Force (IAF) had violated the Line of Control (LoC).
“Indian aircrafts intruded from Muzafarabad sector. Facing timely and effective response from Pakistan Air Force released payload in haste while escaping which fell near Balakot. No casualties or damage,” Ghafoor tweeted.
Omar Abdullah tweeted as confusion prevailed regarding which sector was attacked by IAF jets. Balakot in Pakistan near Muzaffarabad or Bala Kote near Poonch near LoC? National Conference Leader tweeted:
As several media reports clarified the matter, Omar again tweeted on the same clarifying that it is Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK):
Pakistani columnist Mosharraf Zaidi in response to Major General Asif Gharoof clarified on the same:
Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on the cross-LoC strike tweeted that Pakistan Occupied Kashmir aka PoK is mostly our own territory hence no international law broken, it is only self defence:
Subramanian Swamy told ANI, “Even if it was their territory, we have under the United Nation charter the right of self-defence. They have been attacking us & they say we want to give a thousand cuts to India, so our government did the right thing by giving them 1000 bombs.”
Pakistani drone was also shot near Kutch in Gujarat around 6:30 am, claim reports.
