PC Chacko, a senior Congress representative, announced his departure from the party on Wednesday. The Congress was dealt a setback just days before the Kerala Assembly Election on April 6.
“I have resigned from the Congress and submitted my resignation to Sonia Gandhi, the party’s interim leader,” Chacko said at a press conference.
It is very difficult for a sincere Congress worker to survive. Chacko said at a press conference that “merit is not a problem at all.” He went on to say that Congress is a rudderless ship that has been unable to select a president for over a year.
“I’d been thinking about this decision for a long time. I’m from Kerala, where there is no such thing as a Congress party. There are two political parties of the United States: Congress (I) and Congress (II) (A). He went on to say, “It’s a coordinating committee between two parties that functions as the KPCC.”
Senior Congress leaders in Kerala, Ramesh Chennithala and Oommen Chandy, were also attacked by Chacko. “Both Chennithala and Chandy still split seats and organisational positions between themselves,” he said in a letter to party president Sonia Gandhi, tendering his resignation.
According to Chacko, in Kerala, only those who belong to one of two classes have a future, while others are constantly excluded.
“Kerala is in the midst of a critical poll. People want Congress to return, but top congressional officials exercise groupthink. I’ve been pleading with high command to put an end to this. The high command, on the other hand, is in agreement with both groups’ proposals “he said
