All hostels, ashram schools, girls education complex, sports complex and other special category institutions under the tribal affairs department will now be lit up with solar power.

Solar power systems will be installed here to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity and to reduce monthly electricity bills in all these institutions.

An expenditure proposal of more than Rs 156 crore 88 lakh is being prepared and sent for approval to install solar power systems in 2,378 subordinate institutions by the tribal affairs department.

The installation of solar power systems will also facilitate setting up e-classes (smart classes, smart labs) in all these institutions and connecting students with smart preparation for competitive examinations along with school examinations with new technologies.

As soon as the departmental action plan gets approval, the process of installing solar power systems in all these institutions will be started.

CCTV cameras will be installed for the safety of students in hostels and ashrams

The state government is paying special attention to the safety of students studying in hostels, ashram schools and other special category institutions.

The Tribal Affairs Department has prepared a concrete proposal by deciding to install CCTV cameras for regular monitoring of internal and external security in all these departmental institutions.

There are a total of 2,810 such institutions under the department. CCTV cameras are already installed in 1,305 of these institutions.

The department has prepared an estimated expenditure proposal of about Rs 10 crore 54 lakh for installing CCTV cameras in all the remaining departmental institutions.

This will also enable regular monitoring of the studies, teaching and other activities of the boarding students in hostels/ashram schools and other special institutions.
