Severe earthquake tremors were felt on Wednesday in several places in North India including Delhi-NCR, Jammu and Kashmir. These shocks were felt at around 12:30 in the afternoon. The center of the earthquake is being reported in the Hindkush region of Afghanistan. 

In addition to Delhi-NCR and Jammu and Kashmir, significant shocks were felt in Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. There is no news of loss of life and property in India so far. After earthquake shocks, people came out of their homes and offices in many places.

According to the European-Mediterranean Symology Center (EMSC), the intensity of earthquake was 6.1 on the Richter scale.

An official in Srinagar said, “The earthquake was located in a depth of about 190 kilometers on the Afghan-Tajikistan border.

Delhi Metro official said that the Metro service was stopped for some time in New Delhi, but there was no hindrance in the service.

As a precaution, the authorities stopped supplying power for a while.
