In a heartbreaking incident in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, an elderly man was asked to bear his deceased wife’s body on a bicycle for hours in search of a crematorium.
The man can now be seen sitting by the roadside to relax, while the woman’s body, along with the bicycle, lies on the ground.
Locals in Jaunpur’s village refused to accept the woman’s funeral because they were afraid of the coronavirus. The government, on the other hand, has not verified whether she tested positive for Covid.
After that, the old man got on his bicycle and rode around for hours with his wife.
No one in the village attempted to assist the man with the cremation, and no one reached out to him to express their condolences. In the other side, they were able to prevent the man from cremating his wife at the village’s cremation ghat.
On Tuesday, after being briefed of the ordeal, the Jaunpur Police performed the woman’s last rites at Ramghat.
Rajkumari, Tilakdhari Singh’s 50-year-old wife from Amberpur in the Madiyahu town of the Jaunpur district, had been ill for a long time.
Her condition worsened after her husband admitted her to the Umanath Singh District Hospital on Monday. She died shortly after, and her body was returned to the hospital in an ambulance.
When the old man decided to cremate the body because it had begun to decompose, no one came forward to assist him. Social network users are still sharing photos of the disaster, criticizing the government for failing to avert the disaster.
