Union Home and Co-operation Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the Satna Medical College. The medical college building complex, expanded over 43 acres and built with an investment of Rs 550 crore, was inaugurated at the programme. On this occasion, Union Home Minister Shah said that the health sector in the country is evolving on the concept of holistic development. Firstly, a cleanliness campaign was initiated to inculcate a culture in the general public. Thenceforth, efforts have been made to take health services to every village by transforming health services through Yoga, Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Fit India, Khelo India, Indradhanush Abhiyan, Poshan Abhiyan and Health and Wellness Center.
Shah said that the establishment of a medical college in Satna, the holy land of Lord Shri Ram in Vindhya, will prove to be a milestone in the field of medical education. In Satna Medical College, patients will get all the facilities of treatment similar to metropolitan cities. Now the children of this area will not need to go outside for medical studies.
Shah said that in the nectar of independence, the country should become the leader of the whole world. Such a powerful and progressive India is being built.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is making rapid progress in every field. Cleanliness is also linked with health. 10 crore toilets have been constructed in the country. Yoga is being promoted continuously. So far, more than 7 crore poor have been treated free of cost under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Yojana. Life-saving vaccines are being administered to all the children under the Indradhanush campaign. After Corona, by spending 60 thousand crore rupees, the health structure is being given a new look and is being taken to every village.
Shah said that there was a provision of Rs 94 thousand crore for health in last year’s budget, in which an increase of Rs 30 thousand crore has been made this year. Initially in the year 2021-22, 51 thousand 300 doctors were prepared in the country through medical colleges. Now this number has increased to 89 thousand 900.
Along with MBBS, MD and MS seats are also being increased. 22 new AIIMS hospitals have been built in the country. There were 2055 MBBS seats available in Madhya Pradesh, which will increase to 3700 soon. The state government has also resolved to open medical colleges in Damoh, Chhatarpur and Seoni.
Chouhan said that the Medical College of Satna will prove to be a milestone for health facilities. The construction of the hospital affiliated to this will start soon. The Chief Minister said that a glorious, prosperous and powerful India is now being built under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. India is moving towards becoming a world leader.
Chouhan said that a network of roads has been laid in Vindhya region. Vindhya Expressway will be built from Bhopal to Singrauli via Vidisha, Sagar, Damoh, Katni, Rewa. Industrial area will be developed in this. In Satna city, works worth Rs 940 crore are being done under the Smart City Project. Soon Satna will be seen transforming and will be included in the category of metropolitan cities.
MP Minister of Medical Education Vishwas Sarang said that today is a day of pride for the residents of Satna. Since the year 2003, efforts are being made to increase the limited number of medical colleges in the entire state. Now 14 government medical colleges have been established in the state. Soon other medical colleges will be inaugurated. Fulfilling the resolution of Modi, efforts will be made to start medical colleges in every district. He said that Medical College in Satna will be a medical college with all-facilitated modern medical system. This will cater to the provision of super specialities. Member of Parliament Ganesh Singh said that today is a historic day for Satna. Earlier people from here used to go to Jabalpur and Nagpur for treatment. Now they will get the facility of treatment of complex diseases in the Medical College in Satna itself. He also demanded approval of 600 bedded hospital in the college and taking Satna Medical College under the control of AIIMS Delhi. Also suggested to open a training center for para-military forces at Majhgawan in Chitrakoot zone. Mayor Shri Yogesh Tamarkar announced to build a shelter for relatives of patients at a cost of one crore rupees in his private land near the Medical College.
Initially, Union Home Minister inaugurated the college by unveiling the plaque and then inspected college building. The Union Home Minister was honoured by the MP and the Medical Education Minister by presenting mementos. Minister of State for Rural Development Shri Ramkhelavan Patel proposed vote of thanks. State Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, Satna in-charge and Forest Minister Dr. Kunwar Vijay Shah, MP Khajuraho Shri V.D. Sharma, public representatives including legislators and a large number of citizens were present.
