Three individuals who were reportedly abducted in Haryana’s Hisar district were freed within 90 minutes of a complaint being filed, and eight others have been detained, according to police.
A police spokeswoman in Chandigarh claimed that Sandeep, Baljit, and Mohit from Haryana, as well as Sonu, Chotu, Sandeep, Sohanlal, and Sonu from Lakhimpur in Uttar Pradesh, had been detained.
A relative of one of the victims filed a complaint with the Agroha police station in Hisar, alleging that his brother-in-law had been abducted and that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs. 50 lakh to free him.
“Police established special squads that examined all aspects and cracked the case in under one and a half hours,” according to the spokesman.
According to him, preliminary inquiry indicated that Baljit and Surendra alias Sindar had been plotting to abduct Mahendra for ransom for several days.
They abducted Mahendra on the guise of showing him a vehicle and took him to Azad Nagar in Hisar, according to the spokesman, who added that four kidnappers called Mahendra’s brother Mittu and Vinod to Hisar as part of their plot.
The three were kept in an old house in Azad Nagar, he said.
“Then the kidnappers made a ransom call demanding ₹ 50 lakh,” the spokesperson said and added that further investigation is underway and a search is on to apprehend Surendra.
