Wellington, New Zealand: Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Monday said “gun reforms are on it’s way,” just a day after Gun City owner David Tipple in a press briefing revealed that the Christchurch terror-shooter legally purchased multiple weapons from his store through a mail-order process.
PM Jacinda Ardern told media sources in Wellington that ministers had made “in-principle decisions around the reform of our gun laws” and that “This ultimately means that within 10 days of this horrific act of terrorism we will have announced reforms which will I believe will make our communities safer.”
Gun City owner David Tipple on Sunday revealed in a press conference that the Christchurch terrorist, responsible for killing of 50 people at the mosque had purchased multiple weapons from his store through a mail-order process. Tipple reiterated that the semi-automatic assault rifle used in the massacre was not purchased at his store.
Brenton Tarrant, a 28-year-old Australian, appeared in the court at the weekend, is charged with a murder and now more charges after getting booked for mosque killings in Christchurch. He is a right-wing extremist and an Islamophobic.
Police believe there was only one attack behind the mosque killings in Christchurch, Commissioner Mike Bush confirmed on Monday.
