The present system of payment of goods and services tax (GST) returns for industry and business will continue till June. GST Council has increased the existing GSTR-3B system for three months to register returns in its meeting today.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley gave this information to the reporters after the GST Council meeting here. He said that electronic bill for the transportation of goods from one state to another would be implemented from April 1.
However, he said that the e-bill in any state will be implemented in a phased manner from April 15 and it will be implemented in all the states by one June.
GST Council could not reach any decision about the simple form of GST in today’s meeting. In this regard, the Council has asked the committee headed by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi to prepare a form of a page which is simple and will be able to get rid of tax evasion.
Jaitley said that the present system of filing GST returns has been extended to GSTR-3B for three months only. Simultaneously, it has been decided to continue the tax exemption given to exporters by six months i.e. September.
