It took over a decade for the Maneri village forest committee in Mandla district to restore greenery in 186.92 hectares of forest area.

The state forest department carried a micro planning for restoration of forests in this area with the help of the village forest committees.

The department conducted the Maneri Forest Village Stock Mapping in Maneri area of Mandla district as the forest area was devoid of vegetation.

This area needed attention and was therefore selected for RDF (Forest Re-densification) by the forest department.

The Maneri village forest committee was constituted and was entrusted with a task to manage 186.92 hectares of forest area.

This forest area was under severe biotic stress due to its proximity to an industrial area.

Despite this, local communities played an important role in protecting forests against illegal logging and grazing.

The restoration of forest started in year 2003-4 and 2005-6, here.

The restoration work started by the Maneri village forest committee headed by  Kallu Bai Marco, who played a commendable role in pursuing the community for forest conservation and management.

Due to the tireless efforts and determination of the members of the village forest community, today greenery is restored in this area.

In past two years, the committee has earned profit by selling 3526 teak and 31 fuel logs of wood from this area.

Similarly the Badi Naldi tribal Village Forest Committee in Jhabua restored greenery on 192 hectares of forest area.

The forest department has succeeded in forest redensification by involving the local communities in forest management and their restoration.

The Badi Naldi Village Forest Committee of Jhabua district was given the responsibility of restoring 192 hectares of vacant forest area about 15 years ago.

Due to the tireless efforts made by the members of the Village Forest Committee and the villagers over the years, the forest splendor of this area has returned again.

The forests play an important role in the livelihood of the tribal community.

With the restoration of the forest, the forest resources play a crucial role in livelihood of the tribals.

The imbalance in local ecosystem due to depletion of forests gives rise of climatic problems in the area.

The forest restoration provides an appropriate and sustainable solution to the overcome challenges of climate change.
