Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said 21000 acres of land has been freed so far in the actions taken against criminals across the state.
This land will basically be used to build houses for the poor by distributing them. The state government has a clear intention that the illegal lands belonging to the mafia should be freed and distributed among the poor, he said.
He said whenever required, the land would be used for building hospitals, schools and anganwadis and other government works.
A presentation was made in the meeting regarding action taken against land mafia, goons, habitual offenders and removal of illegal encroachments.
It was informed in the presentation that from April 2020 to March 2022, 15397 acres of land of revenue department, urban bodies and forest departments were freed, the value of the land area is worth Rs 11.941 crore.
Along with this, 6105 acres of land of other departments were also freed.
It was further informed in the presentation that between March 2021 and March 2022, 4495 cases were registered against the land mafia.
During this period, 9896 illegal constructions on encroachments were pulled down, action was taken against 188 persons under NSA and 498 face action of district banishment.
Chouhan asked all the members of the Council of Ministers to discuss with each other on maintenance of peace and harmony in respective districts of which they are incharge.
It should be ensured that the law and order remains well ordered, the upcoming festivals go smoothly.
Chouhan said meetings of the peace committees should be organised, those who cause disturbance should be booked.
It is a clear instruction that the perpetrators of the crimes will not be pardoned, whatever legal actions is possible will be taken, he said.
Chouhan said Home Department is taking action against those giving misleading information on social media.
