Republic Day or Purna Swaraj Day is the day when the Constitution of India came into force in 1950. Fun fact, Indian constitution was adopted in 1949. Indian Constitution came into force after the Britishers left India completely, making it an independent nation.
The Republic Day has grand celebrations across the country in the capital city, Delhi where a parade runs along Rajpath near the President House. The ritual is not part of the Constitution, but in fact, it’s a tradition that dates back almost 70 years ago from a fine morning where thousands of people were gathering to watch a simple yet grand ceremony when the first President was being appoited.
The ceremonial parade is a part of the Indian heritge and since then been the highlight of the Republic Day celebrations in the country.
